In the North, respiratory illnesses are expected to increase, while in the South, the prevalence of tropical diseases is likely to rise. 

For this reason, before planning your travel to the countries listed below, FEMERAID International strongly recommends that you: 

• Verify any current disease outbreaks in your destination; 

• Take appropriate preventive and mitigating measures; 

• Seek advice if in doubt.

Belize: Increase in dengue, avoid mosquito bites 

Canada: Increase in tuberculosis in Nunavik (Quebec province), avoid contact with sick people, seek medical care if exposed 

Chile: Increase in pertussis, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Colombia: Yellow fever in multiple departments, vaccination recommended, avoid mosquito bites 

Cuba: Hepatitis A in Havana, vaccination recommended, select safe food and water 

Peru: Pertussis infections, check vaccination status 

United States: Legionnaires’ disease in Iowa, seek medical attention if symptoms develop. Vibriosis infections, protect wounds, avoid raw shellfish. 

Uruguay: Increase in varicella (chickenpox), ensure vaccination is up to date, follow hygiene measures 

American Samoa (US): Dengue infections reported, avoid mosquito bites 

Bangladesh: Increasing chikungunya in multiple regions, avoid mosquito bites. Increasing dengue, avoid mosquito bites. 

Cambodia: Increasing dengue, avoid mosquito bites 

China: Bird flu infections in several areas, avoid contact with birds, follow hygiene measures 

India: Influenza in Karnataka state, ensure vaccination is up to date, follow hygiene measures. Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis in Kerala state, avoid fresh water bodies. 

Indonesia: Increase in measles in East Java province, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Japan: Increase in severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), avoid tick bites 

Mongolia: Plague infections in Khovsgol province, avoid flea bites and follow routine hygiene measures 

Nauru: Ongoing dengue outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Nepal: Japanese encephalitis infections, avoid mosquito bites, vaccinate if eligible 

Pakistan: Heightened risk of insect-borne diseases, avoid insect bites 

Papua New Guinea: Polio in Lae and Port Moresby, booster recommended, carry proof of vaccination

Taiwan (China): Increase in enterovirus infections, follow routine hygiene measures 

Thailand: Rabies outbreak in animals in Bangkok’s Prawet district, avoid contact with animals, consider pre-exposure vaccination 

Tuvalu: Dengue outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Vanuatu: Whooping cough outbreak in Tafea province, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Vietnam: Increase in dengue infections, avoid mosquito bites 

Czech Republic: Increase in hepatitis A, vaccination recommended, pay attention to hygiene. Increase in Lyme disease, avoid tick bites. Increase in tick-borne encephalitis, avoid tick bites, consider vaccination. 

France: Chikungunya in several regions, avoid mosquito bites. First West Nile virus infections in multiple regions, prevent mosquito bites. 

Spain: Poliovirus in wastewater in Baix Llobregat, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Iraq: Increase in Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever infections in Dhi Qar governorate, avoid contact with animals 

Israel: Polio detected, booster recommended, carry proof of vaccination 

Sudan: Cholera outbreak, select safe food and water, consider vaccination
