The Air Rescue Team of FEMERAID International informs all our members, Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) about the followings:
The World Health Organisation warned the day before that the new variant of the coronavirus, known as JN.1, poses a significant threat unless health authorities address it effectively. Recent data has revealed that JN.1 has become the dominant strain of Covid-19 worldwide, resulting in a high number of deaths.
This variant is a mutated form of Omicron, and experts fear it could spread quickly and reach unprecedented levels if the number of cases continues to rise, particularly due to increased social interactions during the festive season. In light of these developments, the Medilink clinical governance team has expressed concerns about the rapid proliferation of the JN.1 variant. It emphasizes that this strain is extremely volatile and unpredictable, highlighting the potential risks associated with inadequate management by relevant authorities worldwide.
While there is currently no evidence that the JN.1 variant is more severe, the unpredictable nature of the virus underscores the importance of ongoing surveillance for any new variants. It is crucial for each person to remain vigilant and implement all preventive measures. 18th January 2024
