The Air Rescue Team of FEMERAID International informs all our members, Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) about the followings:
One of the global dilemmas we are currently facing is whether or not to vaccinate children under the age of 11 against COVID-19.
The ECDC yesterday published a recommendation indicating that vaccination is highly recommended for children with chronic illnesses and co-morbidities. For healthy children ages 5 through 11 years old, the ECDC has not made a clear recommendation, but does advise that this age group should be considered. We know that this age group present the fewest health complications with COVID-19 infection, so the risk-benefit ratio at this point may not justify a massive vaccination programme for children under the age of 11.
However, we must emphasize that the vaccines have been prepared for paediatric doses, and such have been proven with trials to be safe in the lower age groups.
Keep Safe.
