The Air Rescue Team of FEMERAID International informs all our members, Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) about the followings:

As vaccination programs are rolled out in many countries, a large study started this month to understand the intricacies of the various vaccines and protocols.

The areas examined are:

• whether the same person can receive 2 different vaccines and is effective,

• if a person already infected with the virus can, or should be vaccinated,

• to evaluate the effectiveness of already approved vaccines against new variants of the virus identified in the UK, South Africa and Brazil.

The results of any of these studies could significantly change the current programs. According to a study published this week, the decline in new cases in the UK is due to the success of the vaccination program so far, with over 10 million of the population having received the 1st dose. This is very good and encouraging news, but we need to be cautious and continue to study it closely to fully understand the impact of vaccines on COVID-19.

It was only about a year ago that the medical community worldwide was convinced that COVID-19 was just another viral pneumonia. A few months later in this pandemic, and after far too many fatalities, it is clear from experience and studies that in fact the whole body can come under attack from the virus. Today, we know that there are virtually no organs immune to this attack; from the brain to the foot – all are implicated in one way or another. The COVID-19 virus has not yet been brought under control in the world.
