Snippet from FEMERAID International Air Rescue as of 18 September 2023
The Air Rescue Team of FEMERAID International informs all our members, Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) about the followings:

Another winter is approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and extreme temperatures are expected due to climate change. Additionally, more than two years have passed since most people received their COVID-19 vaccine/booster doses. The fact that three viruses are likely to act synergically this year (COVID-19, seasonal flu and RSV - Respiratory Syncytial Virus) may lead to a so-called “tripledemic”.

This combination of factors has the potential to cause an unparalleled storm for both patients seeking medical care and the intricate healthcare systems that support them.

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the frequency of hospital admissions has displayed a consistent upward trajectory, particularly witnessing a noteworthy surge of 12% within the mere span of a week in relation to ailments affecting the respiratory system.

In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) is diligently overseeing a new strain of COVID that is rapidly gaining global significance.

It is with utmost conviction that we ardently advise prioritising the administration of the forthcoming COVID-19 vaccine, projected to be accessible between October and November 2023, to those individuals who are most vulnerable. Furthermore, we advocate for their concurrent inoculation against seasonal flu to ensure comprehensive protection and safeguarding of their wellbeing.

We truly believe this is the most effective way to protect those who are at highest risk and could suffer complications from these viruses Hurricane.

Keep safe and healthy!
